This Week’s New Releases: Jason Mraz, Dragonforce, Dry The River
Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz leads the way this week with the release of his new album Love Is A Four Letter Word. Response to the two singles prior to its release has been mixed. Whilst “I Won’t Give Up”, released in January, has been scrobbled 287,380 times, lead single “The World As I See It (released in September 2011) has been scrobbled just 29,347 times. The widely-acclaimed musician will be hoping that form across his album tracks are notably more consistent.
Elswhere, English speed/power metal specialists Dragonforce will release their fifth full-length album and first with new vocalist Marc Hudson. With 16,959,467 scrobbles to date they will hope to build on the success on 2008′s Ultra Beatdown - scrobbled 1,424,605 times. They released single “Fallen World” as a free download in March and last week it came in at #3 in their top weekly tracks chart with 1,168 listeners.
Upcoming Dragonforce event:
Lastly another British band will be releasing their music State-side next week, with indie folk act Dry The River releasing their debut album Shallow Bed. Having convened in a house in East London to write the album, the band have been rewarded with 607,679 scrobbles of their music so far.
