A Ghostly Double For The Hype Chart
The Last.fm Hype Chart is back again, to run down who’s on the up among music fans. Based on scrobbles, it’s a reflection of the acts translating their buzz into serious spins.
Read on with Last.fm Originals to take a look at this week’s top three acts.
At #3 this week is Royal Headache, who have just re-released their debut Royal Headache on the influential What’s Your Rupture? label with plenty of online buzz. That’s contributed to a Hype Score of 873 for the Sydney garage rockers, with tracks like “Never Again” reaching 2,091 listeners in the past week.
Also from Australia but with an entirely different sound, at #2 we find black metal six-piece Ne Obliviscaris. Their long-awaited debut The Portal of I is creating a stir amongst metal fans, with 32,216 plays to date since its release earlier this month. A Hype Score of 988 indicates good things for the band, who’ve spent six years playing live shows.
With a Hype Score of 1,447 this week, Ghost Beach hold onto the #1 spot and improve upon last week‘s record. Breakout track “Miracle” has increased its popularity to gain 2,357 listeners, and meant that they’re the first act to remain at the top for more than one week in 2012.
