How To Destroy Angels: ‘Welcome Oblivion’ Album Stream

Trent Reznor is a man of many talents.  Best known for his industrial brainchild Nine Inch Nails, he now turns his maniacal musical mind towards a new collaboration featuring his wife Mariqueen Maandig, fellow NIN art-alum Rob Sheridan and composer Atticus Ross.  Named after the 1984 single by Coil, the band has been toiling with various EP’s and singles since 2010.  Today marks the debut of How To Destroy Angels studio album titled Welcome Oblivion.

Many previous recordings have appeared on film soundtracks such as Limitless and The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo.  Reznor’s legacy is easily recognized in the song styling as it’s just as dark and wicked as all of his previous work however notably more mellow and glitchy, while every so often lightly kissed by the romantic vocal work of Maandig which brings a dynamically new attitude to the ever experimental sound.

The first track from Welcome Oblivion, “How long?”, was released on January 31, 2013, along with a music video directed by Shynola.

The band has been teasing Welcome Oblivion since last fall and fans have been counting down to today.  HTDA offers a plethora of download options (for the new album as well as all of the older recordings) direct from their website for minimal fees.  The band is also hitting the road in the next month and if we’ve learned anything from the Reznor track record, this will truly be a live event to experience.
