This Week’s New Releases: Neil Young, Patti Smith, Tom Jones

Next week sees the first album from Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Neil Young pictured above) in nearly nine years. Titled Americana the release is billed as a collection of classic, American folk songs. Having amassed 4,096,255 plays from 321,752 listeners it can be expected the new release will push the act well above the 5,00,000 mark in the near future.

The next week also sees the return of Patti Smith with her first collection of new material since 2004′s critically acclaimed release Trampin. Titled BANGA it was recorded at Electric Lady studios in New York and produced by Smith herself. It also features appearances from her children Jackson and Jesse Paris. With 8,935,385 plays and 579,446 listeners it’ll only be a matter of days before she clocks the 9,000,000 mark.

Also out this week is a new release from the veteran Pop/Soul vocalist Tom Jones. Titled Spirit In The Room the album once again brings together Ethan Johns (Brit Award Producer of the Year 2011) and Jones for intimate performances with a select group of musicians. The Welsh singer will be hoping to see a significant increase on his play count upon the release on Monday.
