The Hype Chart Takes It DWNTWN

Here’s another installment of the Last.fm Hype Chart, showcasing emerging artists on the rise. Last week, New York based Ghost Beach took the #1 spot, but who’s on the up now?

In at #3 this week is 19 year old Boston based rapper Cam Meekins. After recently dropping his new Google friendly full-length titled ‘:):/:(‘  he brings home a Hype Score of 723 on the back of blog banger ‘Two Roads’.

Recently gaining the coveted Best New Music stamp by Pitchfork, Atlanta resident and OutKast affiliate Killer Mike comes in at #2 this week with a 1,068 Hype Score.

Finally, this week’s #1 comes in the shape of girl-boy duo DWNTWN. Based in Los Angeles, they blend folky melodies with pulsing synths. Picking up a Hype Score of 1,547, it’ll be interesting to see if they can hold on next week.
