Representing the love of thrash metal resurgent in Finland’s young bands, Lost Society stay true to the long-haired, speed-riff formula with tracks such as “Trash All Over You”. Debut album Fast Loud Death has propelled the teens to #3 in this week’s Hype Chart, with fans scrobbling up a storm since its European release in March – and a worldwide release date yesterday should see international thrashers getting in on the action. Check out the single below, available as a free download at their Last.fm page and scrobbled 2,721 times so far.

2: Conquering Animal Sound – Hype Score: 457

This Glasgow-based duo are on their second album of indietronica, touring recently with fellow Glaswegians – and buzz band – CHVRCHES. On Floating Bodies is their latest release, with opening track “Ultimate Heat Death of the Universe” at the top of their charts and scrobbled by 398 fans in the past week. Counting 78,725 overall scrobbles so far, their profile should be further increased by an upcoming tour of Germany – and their shoutbox suggests they have plenty of fans further afield:

1: Drop City Yacht Club – Hype Score: 769

Formerly known as The Freshmen, this hip-hop trio have now graduated into Drop City Yacht Club. Debut single “Crickets” features Jeremih, and its release as iTunes free download of the week means it currently accounts for most of their 3,915 overall scrobbles. With a debut album due later in the year, we’ll have to wait and see whether fans find the rest of their tracks just as catchy – in the meantime, check out the single below.
