Bloodstock Festival Promoter Picks
We’ve already covered interviews with Bloodstock Festival acts Orange Goblin and Behemoth, so how about an interview with festival promoter herself Rachael Greenfield? She picks out five acts (well… seven) that she won’t be missing and who you certainly shouldn’t be missing. Read on…
1. Splintered Soul - Sophie Lancaster / Last.fm Stage
“It may require stamina to get up early to see these guys on the Saturday morning but it really is worth it. The dawning of a truly great band in my opinion as they finally emerge from the studio after spending the last 12 months creating their highly anticipated “Lore”. Cinematic metal that sounds huge and with Sally Jo on Violin and Erika on vocals it certainly doesn’t look too shabby either!!!”
2. Bull Riff Stampede – New Blood Stage
“We witnessed these guys tear the London Underworld to shreds just recently and the prospect of them doing the same in the New Blood tent is both exciting and terrifying – ‘cos once they start the pit is gonna be insane. For lovers of bands like Nuclear Assault, Anthrax or Testament this is a must.”
3. Testament – Main Stage
“Because they’re Testament! Because they’re new material sounds insane! Because Chuck Billy is a god! For me these guys are like a fine wine and just get better – the last release “Formation of Damnation” was insanely good and from what I’ve heard of the new album it’s going to be just as ridiculously heavy! Cant wait to hear some True American Hate on the ground of Bloodstock.”
4. Orange Goblin – Sophie Lancaster / Last.fm Stage
“These guys are true servants to the British Metal Scene and I’d go as far as to say they have not been given the acclaim they rightly deserve – but I reckon the headline slot on the Sophie stage is perfect placement for them and it’s going to be insane especially on the back of a great release with “A Eulogy For The Damned” which has got more groove, power and anger than most – I can foresee neck sprains and wind-milling casualties a-plenty. - Hell I’m up for a bit of that!!”
5. Crowbar / Hatebreed / Alice Cooper
“Sorry cant pick a final band out of the three above – Crowbar will smash ya teeth in with some of the most brutal down tuned riffs ever created – Hatebreed spitting lyrical venom and power driven lunacy and Alice simply because he is the master of shock gore and the show is always something to behold!!
Jesus its starting to dawn on me how good this line up really is – not long now!!!”
