SETH TROXLER- ID-STEPHSIANSMITH--4

Continuing our coverage of acts playing across various festivals in the UK this month, we had a chat with DJ and producer Seth Troxler about the five acts he’s been listening to the most recently. American-born but now based in the club-heavy location of Berlin, Seth Troxler will perform at South West Four in London this Sunday 26th August.

Footprintz
“These are two super-sweet, amazingly talented guys from Montreal who we discovered about eighteen months ago. Their band Footprintz released the second EP on our Visionquest label and they are just gearing up to release their debut album which is definitely going to turn heads. Their sound is kind of somewhere in between The XX and Depeche Mode but much less melancholy.”

Footprintz current most popular track on Last.fm is “Fear of Numbers” with 3,471 scrobbles:

Laura Jones
“Laura is a super talented underground house music producer based in Leeds. We’ve known her for some time as a DJ but about a year ago she started putting out records which really impressed us. She’s from a classically trained musical background and this really shows in her use of melody and arrangement.”

Laura Jones’ most popular track right now on Last.fm is the Maceo Plex remix of “Love In Me”, scrobbled over 5,000 times:

Eats Everything
“Eats Everything is this larger than life character from Bristol. He’s got an even bigger belly than me and makes tunes just as heavyweight as his really quite significant stature. His new EP on dirtybird is one of my biggest weapons right now and I’ve been playing his bootleg of Adam F ‘Circles’ all summer long!”

The deep house producer has been scrobbled over 25,000 times on Last.fm in total. “Entrance Song” below has been scrobbled by 716 unique listeners in the past 6 months:

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs
“TEED is this super-sardonic but totally amazing kid from Oxford called Orlando who’s not only really funny to hang out with but also one of the most exciting new live acts in dance music. There is a real lack of killer live acts like The Chemical Brothers or Underworld of yester-year and TEED is stepping up to fill this gap.”

Easily the most popular of Seth Troxler’s choices, TEED have been scrobbled 1,731,501 times and have been taking stages by storm worldwide for a while now. The familiar “Garden” has been scrobbled 391,911 times and is, by some way, TEED’s most popular track on Last.fm:

Blood Orange
“For me right now Blood Orange is one of the most exiting forces in all of music. He’s kind of got the vibe of Prince, crossed with the voice of Michael Jackson and guitar playing ability of Jimi Hendrix which I know is a really big, and some might say iconoclastic, statement but the guy is a genius. His debut album as Blood Orange ‘Coastal Grooves’ was the underground sleeper album of the year last year and once you’ve seen him live it’s impossible not to be a fan.”

Blood Orange’s album ‘Coastal Grooves’ may be seen by some as a sleeper album but it has racked up 483,849 scrobbles to date. Formerly acting as Lightspeed Champion and a member of Test Icicles, it looks like Devonté Hynes may have found the project to take him forward. “Sutphin Boulevard” is his most popular track with 148,083 scrobbles:
