Discover Five Acts with… Lower Than Atlantis

Lower+Than+Atlantis+NEW

Another band we caught up with at Liverpool Sound City was Lower Than Atlantis. The rock/hardcore band recently signed to a major and album number four will see the light of day later in the year. In this quick-fire chat, they reeled off five bands they think people should be checking out right now…

1. Don Broco

“We’re playing with them today, they’ve got a new single out, it’s very, very good.”

Nearing 100,000 scrobbles, Bedfordshire rock band Don Broco have been making quite the impression on audiences over the past year. Recent single “Beautiful Morning” has been scrobbled 15,815 times, whilst latest single “Priorities” was listened to by over 200 Last.fm users last week.

2. The Xcerts

“I’ve been listening to this band for about a year and half now. They’re all Scottish but they say they’re from Brighton… probably ‘cos they live there. Really digging them, check them out!”

It’s been an interesting time lately for The Xcerts, having been announced as support to the mighty Guns N’ Roses and then being pulled from the shows. Nonetheless, their rise looks to be unstoppable, as 413,133 total scrobbles from just a couple of albums and EPs shows.

3. Dear Prudence

“They’re playing here at Liverpool Sound City today. My friend Maddy is in them so you should check them out, they’re really good.”

Still in the early stages of their career, the female-fronted synth-pop quintet recently released their single “Valentine” and look to have a busy summer ahead of them.

4. The Jealous Sound

“They aren’t a new band and no one has ever heard of them, but The Jealous Sound are sick. I don’t even know if they’re still going!”

It appears more people have heard of The Jealous Sound than Lower Than Atlantis think. Scrobbled 805,906 times, the LA indie rock band formed in 2000 but there is no word on if the band is still active or not. You can stream “Does That Make Sense” in full here.

5. Silversun Pickups

“They just released a new album, it’s good… sounds like the old stuff, which is what you want really!”

Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings) Lyrics
Drown you out
And left you with a sound
We'll spoil good nights
Replacing lullabies
How could they never notice

We picked up on the new Silversun Pickups release, Neck Of The Woods, in our New Releases article a few weeks back. It’s been scrobbling as well as you would expect from a band with almost 17,000,000 scrobbles, with the album already racking up 346,004 plays. Opening track “Skin Graph” is proving to be the most popular track off the album, listened to by 7,911 listeners last week and scrobbled 42,160 times in total.
