One of the UK’s most coveted events, Glade Festival, will be returning this year for another fun-filled weekend featuring some of the greatest names that dance and electronic music has to offer. Record label Hypercolour will be hosting a stage at Glade this year and head honcho Jamie Russell has kindly outlined five acts to check out at the festival.
“A hugely diverse producer, who has turned his hand to many different styles of electronic music, Grime for Fat City, Bass music for Night Slugs, UK Garage for Numbers and now stand-out house music for the in form Hypercolour. His DJ skills haven’t gone unoticed also, and has now been added to BBC Radio 1′s ‘in new djs we trust’. Nuff said!”
“The bass obsessive from Bristol, with a penchant for serious club bangers. Dan Pearce has been DJing and producing for over 16 years now. His tracks are combining everything from Chicago House to the UK rave scene circa early 90′s. Dan’s bass heavy riddims have attracted the ears of Dirtybird label boss, Claude Von Stroke and Pete Tong who is a huge fan. Check out Eats Everything’s recent essential mix for a taster of what is to come…”
“Alec Storey has the funk, and the funk is ever present throughout his electronic explorations. Championed by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, and Radioactive Man, Al Tourettes is single handedly spear-heading the UK electro scene. Check out his recent ‘Habit Inventing’ EP through Sneaker Social Club to get your head mangled!”
“A new artist who you will be hearing a lot more about, his forthcoming ’Clotting’ EP through fledgling UK label WotNot Music, showcases Deft’s potential to bring dancefloor sensibilities to slowed-down, sexy grooves. Keep an ear out for his forthcoming EP through Space Hardware, sister label to Sneaker Social Club.”
“Another new artist who we shall be seeing and hearing a lot more about, recently heralded on Mary Anne Hobbs radio show, as a must check artist. Blacksmif’s influences take in everything from Jazz, Samba, Dub, UK Garage and beyond…his sound is unique, and extremely standout amongst the sea of mediocrity out there right now.”
Glade Festival takes place from the 14th-17th June 2012. You can find out more info on the Last.fm event page.
