Another artist we chatted to at Parklife Festival at the Reebok Classics stage was New York post-punk band The Rapture.

With almost 11,000,000 scrobbles to their name they were one of the biggest draws at Parklife in the Now Wave Arena, playing tracks from their 2011 album In The Grace of Your Love - scrobbled 1,266,489 times by Last.fm listeners. We sat down with them to talk about the five acts that got them interested music as youngsters.

1. Devo – Whip It
“The very first song I remember hearing as a kid and leaving an impression on me.”

Whip It Lyrics
Crack that whip
Give the past a slip
Step on a crack
Break your momma's back

2. Queen – Another One Bites The Dust
“I thought this was so tough at the time, now I’m older I don’t think so as much. I’d be real little and my parents would call me in to listen to the radio and I’d sing along with them.”

3. Led Zeppelin
“The first band as I teenager that changed it up for me. They’re from San Diego like me and they had a Led Zeppelin hour every night on the radio and I’d listen to that.”

4. Can – Vitamin C
“My step-dad had a really bitchin’ record collection. I found this record in there and couldn’t stop listening to that.”

5. Dead Kennedys – In God We Trust
“Another one that got me going out of that same record collection is Dead Kennedys – In God We Trust. Everything about that record resonated with me. Being a really angry kid I loved that album, especially with the style of lyrics and the energy in the songs.”
