As one of the most important hardcore punk bands of the past 15 or so years, the announcement of American Nightmare‘s reformation in 2011 was met with no shortage of fanfare. Despite being forced to change their name to Give Up The Ghost due to a legal battle in 2003, the band went on to gain a cult following the release of their debut full-length Background Music. Later came the more experimental We’re Down Til We’re Underground but nonetheless, the band’s status in hardcore circles never dwindled. Sadly, it didn’t stop them disbanding in 2004.
However, 2011 saw the band reunite for a few select shows in New York, which they also thankfully decided to do in the UK (eventually!). The band played the second of two shows last night in London at the Tufnell Park Dome. Here’s what our photographer Nathan Greenwood saw:
