Kitty, Daisy & Lewis Get Bodies Shakin’

In the latest Last.fm Live in London night, we teamed up with the fine people at Sunday Best Recordings to bring you a label showcase featuring London siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and folk lovelies Skinny Lister.

The night was soundtracked by special guest DJ Rob da Bank – easing the crowd into proceedings with a playlist featuring Bon Iver and other acoustic smoothness. Skinny Lister then got the party well and truly started with a set of pure, good-time folk that recalls obvious similarities to folk contemporaries Mumford & Sons and Noah and The Whale. Beer was sunk, smiles were widened and with the help of the Skinny Sisters (jolly females who enter the crowd to instigate various forms of barn-dancing) the Garage was well and truly under way.

With the venue now almost full to the brim, it was time for Kitty, Daisy & Lewis to take us back in time with their 50′s and 60′s-inspired swing, r’n'b and rock and roll. Flanked by the parents (playing upright bass and guitar), Kitty, Daisy & Lewis showcase an incredible sense of musicianship – Lewis switching between drums and guitar, Kitty switching between keys and banjo and all of this is bolstered with an incredible special guest trumpet player. A live performance with hardly a piece of digital equipment in site is a rarity these days and Kitty, Daisy & Lewis should be applauded for providing such a riveting live experience in such an organic manner.
