Dance For The Dying - Puzzles For The Traveler

CLIP 6:42 | Nov 4, 2012

DIscussing Their New Album During CMJ 2012

On October 16th, The D.C. based synth-driven indie-rock quartet Dance for the Dying knocked it out of the park at their 2012 CMJ Music Marathon Showcase.  Appropriately set in the dark & erie basement of Fat Baby on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the gig featured selections from the band’s new EP ”Puzzles for the Traveler” which was just released October 2nd

With a sound reminiscent ofBlondie, The Cure, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dance for the Dying brings a new-age appeal to 80′s and 90′s post-punk and New Wave rock.  The band effortlessly fuses the joyful with the melancholy to craft infectiously danceable and catchy tunes, complete with hand claps, soaring synths and maybe even a few glitter bombs.  The electric showcase also featured sets from Big Scary, Gold & Youth, Idgy Dean & The Dead Ships.

The tracks from “Puzzles for the Traveler” have yet to usurp the classics, but we expect a quick turnaround considering the reception of the new stuff by the fan base.

Puzzles for the Traveler is a follow-up to the band’s successful 2011 self-titled EP.  Select tracks from the EP were instant hits when they were released for the Rock Band video game.  Due to the success of these original selections, all five songs from the original EP are now available on the Rock Band Network.  Dance for the Dying is M.C. Wolfe (vocals), Chris Link (drums), Joshua Hunter (guitar and synthesizer) and Brad Cantor (bass and synthesizer.
