We were hoping to have Animal Kingdom in for a Last.fm session back in 2009.  Although they have recorded in America, they never toured the U.S. behind the debut album Signs & Wonders. Our wishes for a session finally came to be when they were here to play their first “official” show in New York City later that night at The Mercury Lounge. But earlier in the day Richard Sauberlich, Hamish Crombie and Geoff Lea setup at The Bowery Electric and played on an NYC stage for the first time. The band’s Last.fm impact continues to grow as with 335,376 scrobbles and 33,664 listeners.

From the debut album Signs And Wonders, it was originally called  ”Computer Love”. It was changed at the last minute because of the Kraftwerk song with the same title. The song has been re-worked from it’s original form (as you see here) for this tour.

Animal Kingdom – Get Away With It

Originally called “The Looking Away” which is the title of the new album. It was one of the last songs written before they went in to record the album.

Animal Kingdom – Skipping Disc

This is Richard’s favorite song on the album. He agrees with us that this is the centerpiece of the album. He got the idea for the title from the clicking sound that his Mac was making before it dies and the hard drive goes. The most “summery” song they’ve recorded. It’s very “open & light”.
