Braving the light rain, around 100 lucky Keane fans got to see their favorite band in a very exclusive unplugged Last.fm Session. This invite-only event took place Wednesday, June 13th, at renowned downtown club The Living Room, as the band marked their return to New York City. Watch as Tom, Tim, Richard and Jesse play three songs from the new album Strangeland and a special fan-favorite track (‘Somewhere Only We Know,’ the band’s most-scrobbled track with over 102,216 plays by Last.fm users), then stick around to answer our questions as well as some submitted by Last.fm users.
Keane – Sovereign Light Cafe
Tom agrees that after people get to hear the whole album, this song will become the centerpiece track. It sets the journey in context, looking back on where it all began. The simple dream of “a bunch of young blokes” in a small seaside town in England, Bexhill-on-Sea, near where all band members grew up. A video has been shot for it and looks like this will be the next single in America.

Keane – On The Road
Another super-quick written track, very “Springsteen-y” as Tim put it. He adds that it’s very philosophical & hopeful, and he loves the spirit of it, very bouncy, very upbeat musically and it’s very positive, emotionally.

Keane – Everybody’s Changing
This is Keane’s second-most scrobbled track at Last.fm with over 77,271 plays by Last.fm users worldwide.

Keane – Somewhere Only We Know
This is Keane’s all-time classic hit, a fact that is backed up by the listeners at Last.fm who have made it their most-scrobbled track with over 102,216 plays. This rendition from their Last.fm Session performance reminded us just how timeless the song is, and how effortlessly-beautiful Tom’s voice can sound.
