Jukebox The Ghost: Interview (Last.fm Sessions)

The trio from Jukebox the Ghost discuss with Last.fm about how they are now presenting a distinctly different sound than past records, and have made the forthcoming self-titled album a party record. The band say they let their guards down to put out the best songs possible, and that is coming after performing over 800 shows on a series of tours spanning back to 2007... we also learn a few of the guys 'secret talents.'

Having been together for nearly a decade, and touring heavily since 2007, Jukebox The Ghost has had a lot of time to grow. With their most recent effort, the upcoming self-titled Jukebox The Ghost (Out October 21st on Yep Roc Records), the band took a break from relentless touring (an estimated 150-170 shows per year) to sit down and focus all of their energy on songwriting and recording.

According to the guys, the first single from the album, “The Great Unknown“, is a decent indicator of what to expect from the rest of the record: it’s hooky, energetic, and “airtight.” There was no room for fluff on this record; “All the stuff that was maybe ‘good, but not great’ didn’t make it onto the record” says Ben Thornewill (vocals & piano).

They came into our studio recently and gave us some great performances.
