The Last Word - Tedeschi Trucks Band

Married couple and fellow rockers talk about life on the road, the end of Derek's run in The Allman Brothers, and their new album

The Tedeschi Trucks Band (522k Scrobbles) is a musical allegiance and collaboration like no other.  When Derek Trucks wed Susan Tedeschi, it was a match made in heaven… but who was to know that this marriage of persons would result in one of the most idyllic marriages of musical companionship & influences in history.  Let’s go to the kitchen, get the biggest pot we can find, pool their talents, history & members from prior solo careers and groups such as The Derek Trucks BandThe Allman Brothers; breed this into The Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Soul Stew Revival; refine the name and pow: we got ourselves a bonafide supergroup.

Their debut album Revelator (26k Listeners on won the Grammy for Best Blues Album, as well as got a nod for the Blues Music Award for Album of The Year.  Now onto their third release, Made Up Mind the band has not slowed down in the least.  The eventual dissolution of prior projects was a necessary casualty to focus primariy on the Tedeschi Trucks Band as we are likely all better for it.

The 10 member band is a site to behold on stage, siting diversity in influences as a key to their success in both composition and performance.  Self proclaimed a big happy family the band is essentially a ‘traveling roots music circus.’  Each member a strong band leader in their own right, but with the chemistry between them starts to react, they are truly a force to be reckoned with.  For the fourth consecutive year, Tedeschi Trucks Band will perform a multiple-night residency at New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre, increasing its annual run to four concerts this September 19, 20, 26, and 27. Pre-sale tickets are available for all four shows starting today; click here to get pre-sale tickets. Tickets are available to the general public on Friday, March 14.

Opening night on 9/19 features Tennessee singer/guitarist Valerie June, and 9/20 features Hard Working Americans kicking things off. The following weekend features Austin’s own Shakey Graves on 9/26 and NYC favorites Pedrito Martinez Group on 9/27.
