The Last Word: Rixton

Rixton give the last word on their prior bands, changing their name to Rixton, making their own videos & spoofing on others. They are excited to have such a rush of activity and hope it results in a nationwide sorority house tour.

Members of the British pop/rock/r&b band Rixton sat down at the Hill & Dale pub in lower Manhattan to talk to Last.fm about their burgeoning success.   Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Jake Roche, bass/keys, backing vocalist Danny Wilkin, lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Charley Bagnall, and drummer Lewi Morgan give the last word on their prior bands, changing their band name from Relics to Rixton, making their own videos, spoofing on others, and sorority houses.

The boys go into heavy detail about their silly video for “Make Out” (currently their 5th top scrobbled track)

Make Out Lyrics
If I could live forever then
I don't know what I'd do
Forgot just what I meant to say
But I'm still in love with you
The future sounds boring

Rixton made their US debut with Me And My Broken Heart EP and following release, the music video for the title track and their first single premiered on MTV worldwide while the song has already cracked the Top 20 chart. It’s a long time family-affair for the foursome hailing from Manchester.  Jake and Danny started writing together 3 years ago in Danny’s parents caravan. Two years later they were introduced to Charley through mutual friends and year later they stumbled upon Lewi in a back alley of a Manchester pub (playing pots and pans) and asked him to join the band. Drawing comparisons to Maroon 5, Rixton offer up a wealth of addictive pop/rock/R&B built on their own brand of songwriting, instrumentation and vocal harmonies. The band has been steadily gaining a large YouTube following from their reimagined covers of tracks including Taylor Swift’s “Trouble”, Rita Ora’s “How We Do (Party)”, Chris Brown‘s “Don’t Wake Me Up” , R. Kelly’s “Ignition” eventually catching the ear of talent manager Scooter Braun and GRAMMY winning producer Benny Blanco.

The boys weren’t kidding either about the sudden success. Their trend has been on a steady climb since springtime. 2014 is definitely the year of Rixton.
