I have just unearthed a live recording of their 2016 album launch show for "Still They Pray." The doom which is now flowing from my speakers, and into my ears, is unreal. These guys are so so good. And, for me, whilst Ritual Abuse has that doom-groove which is so addictive, I love Jus' production on Still They Pray - like a match made in Hell.

love this stuff. found these guys through the Cough/Windhand split, but never gave them a full-on try until recently. Ritual Abuse is amazing.

It's rare that a band can emulate the classic Black Sabbath standards without sounding like derivative stoner rubbish, but Ritual Abuse fucking nails it. It's sludgy and bluesy but also tonally engrossing, everything existing in perfect balance, sluggish grooves dragged down to an anguished crawl.

"Still They Pray" is obviously best doom metal album in '16. Pure fucking AWESOMENESS!

Caught them last night in Sydney, at a double headline sold out show with Windhand. Man, they were good live. My neck got thrashed, complete bang over. Shared a medicinal university cigarette with them after the gig. What legends! Thanks Cough.

Hmmm, I really enjoyed Ritual Abuse, but there have been too many Electric Wizard and Windhand records in between to make Still They Prey that exciting.

v while quite far from stoner (rock), they do have a strong stoner (doom) influence in their distortion, effects and riffing, just like Electric Wizard. Besides, Metallum and metal classifications in general tend to be almost always a tad off, hence to be snorted with a grain of salt.

Yeah, they even played a new song at Psycho California. Sounded pretty good, hopefully they'll do some dates whenever the new album comes out.
