It seems "nu-metal" is viewed as their generations "hair metal". Forever trendy to ridicule. Mötley Crüe, Nickelback & Limp Bizkit will seemingly never get their due with critics and the usual rabble that hates on things because it's trendy. I, am not trendy. I love all the previously mentioned bands. They all made a huge impact on my musical journey. I have of course branched out far beyond them and their respective genres, but every time I come back to their catalogues after extended musical detours, I don't "cringe" as the kids say, I shake my head that they are so broadly hated to begin with. Sure, subjective and all that but, all these bands have mountains of classic songs. Far from one hit wonders. Do people just have a need to try and connect with each other through shared disdain? Maybe. Seems like a poor basis for a relationship in my humble opinion. My favourite people, I bonded with them through "what, you love that too?". That's powerful. I hope it hasn't died out.

Amazing how they have been around for 30 years! I'm going to get back into their music soon with a discography run. I'll start off with their first demo.

Have fun! The first demos/samples of potential tracks for 3DBY$ are absolutely amazing. The guitar work isn’t there because Wes wasn’t around w the band but.. it’s raw, gritty and sometimes I wish they had continued to go down that path

You're entitled to your opinion, but also I reckon solid 99% chance that you only think this because its what Liberal Arts degree having music columnists who've never touched an instrument told you that's what you're meant to think.

Even after 24 years, the Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water album is still incredibly cool and easy to consume. No one has ever combined rap and metal as well as they do. It was the best album of the 2000s. It's still energetic to this day and maybe that's why you can't feel the passage of time on it.
