Never got why people say they sold out. They never signed a major label, they've stood by their ideas and all that shit.

Strongly agree. They even didn't get airplay on terrestrial radio (mainstream FM radio). A big accomplishment of theirs was Public in Drublic becoming a gold record (it sold 500,000+ units) and not one song got any airplay back then.

I remember one reason why some think they sold out. One of their music videos played on MTV in 2003. I know for a fact that NOFX were consistent with maintaining that they didn't want to appear on MTV nor have any of their music videos (I don't think they wanted to make any music video, but they did) airing on MTV. But it happened, a music video of theirs did air on MTV. I even found a thread about it: https://www.neoseeker.com/forums/75/t233299-nofx-on-mtv-say-ain-so/

I still think they didn't sell out because of that, so what if they had a music video airing on MTV. Someone made the point that AFI didn't sell out and AFI had a music video on there as well.

I don't think they would have signed to a major label, even if they could lamo.

Purists are coping so hard over here. They've always been "woke" (retarded ass word I can't lie) and they didn't sell out; as someone else said, they never signed to a major label and they stayed true to all their beliefs/ideologies. People just say they sold out because every somewhat popular punk band is a "sellout", which is a fucking stupid idea.

What are Erik Sandin and El Hefe going to do once NOFX officially disband? Will NOFX break up for sure anyway this year?! I know it was a news item I shared here, but that doesn't mean it's 100% true. Those publications are sometimes wrong. LFM still has them as 1983 - Present at the time of this post. Anyone know for definitive sure on the status of NOFX? I know Eric Melvin has Melvinator, he released a single with that project late in 2022. Also, will Fat Mike still be in Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?

No idea bout the other guys, but I don't think Mike has been in Me First properly for a long time. He definitely doesn't do any of the tours anymore and hasn't for many years (I saw them in 2010 and 2014 and it was Jay Bentley on bass both times). He might record, but they haven't actually released anything for nearly almost 9 years, so who knows.

Ah okay. I'm guessing the band will do more, but not as NOFX. They might do their own music, like Mevlin is doing his own thing. Oh and awesome Gritty pfp. Gritty is awesome!

Fat Mike has his punk rock museum in Las Vegas, that's what he spend 90% of his time doing from what I can tell.

when they were at the hollywood dunkin donuts getting coffee they were skateboarding on the tables trying to kick flap or whatever and the manager asked them to stop and the fat one just kept yelling YOURE NOT MY DAD I DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU until they eventually called the police to come handle the situation. their skateboards were confiscated and they never got their coffee.

oh yeah!!! and after that they ran up to me and screamed "WE ARE NOFX" before hitting me upside the head with a chair and stealing all my hard earned cash. then they felt bad so they gave me tickets to their newest show and said i could be on the stage, i went, and everything was super awesome but then i realized it was all a big prank and they dumped pigs blood on me like in that movie carrie. then they kicked me in the face AGAIN and told me to never listen to their music because its not for gay people. Wow. some stories we both have huh?

Is that supposed to be offensive? Because it's not. You're implying there is something wrong with being gay. They have a keyboardist in the band that is a homosexual and ain't nothing wrong with that.

Fat Mike is an ally, so yeah Gay Mike would work out. Gay can be used as an umbrella term to identify any LGBTQIA+ individual, allies are individuals in that community/movement/fandom.

trying to imagine the losers with so much time on their hands, they actually surf to the LastFM comment section of a band they don't even like. Well done.

A classmate/friend from high school had no idea how to pronounce it. She noticed me wearing a NOFX shirt one day and then she tried pronouncing it the way it was spelled. I always knew it was pronounced as "no effects", but she didn't. I told it was pronounced "no effects" and she insisted that wasn't how it was pronounced. This lead to a bit of an inside joke about the band's pronunciation... I went along with it, I started pronouncing it the way it was spelled. She signed my yearbook with "Remember NOFX?" or something like that. I thought it was cute.

They have humorous and clever lyrics. Talented band! They shouldn't have apologized for their off-color remark... seriously!

I would agree with you, if you afford the same slack to people on the right, when they make off-color remarks. If we just try to cut everyone some slack, then yeah, cool. But, since they probably wouldn't do the same, then I understand the backlash. And besides, they were basically implying that republicans (what most Country music fans stereo-typically are) deserve to be shot. They can think that if they want, fine. But, to say it is not okay, not if the right can't say the same. And think about it: if we all afforded each-other the respect to say whatever we wanted like that, both sides would end up respecting each-other in the end because of it. But alas, what we get is hypocrisy, and that's why it didn't fly.
