THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album, following 2022’s extremely successful Midnights.
The record was announced during the 2024 GRAMMYs, on February 4, 2024, whilst Swift was giving her speech after winning the award for the 13th time. The album was hinted towards through Taylor changing her profile picture and her website being down hours before the event.
After announcing the record, she went on to post its cover, alongside possible song lyrics, on her socials.
The record has 17 songs, two of them in collaboration with the American singer Post Malone and another with the British band Florence + the Machine. The album was produced by Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner and Swift. One of the songs served as a promotional single released on the same day as the release of the album “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)”, the collaboration with the American Post Malone.
2 hours after release, Taylor surprise released a reissue subtitled THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY, adding 15 tracks (including 4 bonus physical tracks) to the album’s 16-song tracklist.
