Jersey drill is a form of Drill that emerged in the early 2020s. Its origins go back to the music of New Jersey (especially Newark) artists who began create rap tracks featuring Jersey Club production in the late 2010s - notably including Killa Kherk Cobain, Uniiqu3, and DJ Jayhood. This new category of "jersey club rap" would form the basis for the later work of DJ Fade, Bandmanrill and AceMula, who mixed East Coast drill with major jersey club influences. The resulting genre incorporates drum patterns and techniques from both Jersey club and NY drill, creating an energetic and off-kilter sound. Jack n Drill is considered a major release that helped launch the genre, attracting newer NY artists. The genre would quickly gain attention in France, with many artists beginning to produce and create French jersey drill music, Kerchak helped to kickstart it in particular. New York artists previously involved with Sample Drill would support the growth of the genre, such as producer Cash Cobain and rapper Quelly Woo. Jersey drill (and jersey club rap) bear similarities with other recent East Coast Club-derived trends, such as the Philly Club-inspired music of artists such as Philly Goats and Zahsosaa.
